The Jiumenkou Great Wall,15km from the Shanhaiguan Pass,is an important scenic spot in Jinxi. Jiumenkou, named Yipianshi in the ancient times,was one of the main passes of the Great Wall built in the Ming Dyna-sty. It is situated at the west end pf the West Liao-ning Corridor,where Hebei and Liaoning border on each other.
　　Before the Ming Dynasty,Yipianshi was only a vital communication line between Beijing and Shenyang Not until Hongwu's 13th Year of the Ming Dynasty when generals represented by Xu Da led militiamen in the construction of the 32 passes in Yongping County did the Great Wall here come into being:built by an imperial official named Zou Laixue in jingtai's　first year of the Ming Dynasty(1450AD),the Xifeng Pass wound to Yipianshi.
　　After the wall here was built,this place was named Jiumenkou instead of Yipianshi and became a strategic pass.In Wanli's fifth year of the Ming Dynasty(1577AD),First Pass East of Beijing,comrpared to First Pass under Heaven,was inscribed on a horizontal board above the west gate as a result of the significance and inaccessiblity of the pass.
　　This pass possessed unique charms throughout the Great Wall because of its nine mahestic gates across the Jiujiang River,for the Great Wall in the other places ws discontinued wherever there was a lofty peak or a large river,which could hold up the enemy.
　　The jiumenkou Great Wall woud alongthe mountains.With its defensive system comprising observation towers,posts,battle platforms signal towers,towers for ordinary people and beacon towers,ir the Ming Dynasty'S Great Wall construction variety in type, greatness in change and compactness in military installations.
　　Being a vital communication pass, it was contested by all strategists.Thefamous"Great Yipianshi Battle"took place right here between Li Zicheng and Wu Sangui at the end of the Ming Dynasty.Force from Liaoning and Hebei fought here during the War of Liberation.Battlefield anecdotes made the Jiumenkou Great Wall more famous.
　　In 1985,12 news units of Liaoning proposed jointly that people all over the province raise funds for the restoration of the Jiumenkou Great Wallmmajestic and fresh,is awaiting the arrival of guests and friends from home and abroad.
The Jiumenkou Great Wall has been cognizanced the important cultural relic protection units and the world culture bequest.
